Biblical Prosperity in Perspective 4

Understanding Why Money Comes, Part One

by Pastor John Hamel

In our last study we saw Scriptural precedent for God transferring wealth from the hands of the disobedient into the hands of the obedient.  We also said that there is a great transfer of the world’s wealth that is now in the process of coming into the Body of Christ.

Those who pay tithes and offerings, obeying any further instruction of God, are the ones who will be trusted by God to manage this wealth.  Those who make His priorities their priorities will indeed see tremendous amounts of wealth coming directly into their hands.

What are God’s priorities?  We can easily discern what God’s priorities are in the Earth by looking at Heaven’s Solitary Missionary, Jesus Christ.

Why did Jesus Christ come to Earth?  Once we fully understand why Jesus Christ came to Planet Earth, we will more readily understand why prosperity comes into our hands.

Prosperity comes to us for the same primary reasons that the Lord Jesus Christ came to the Earth.

Jesus Christ Came to Seek and to Save the Lost

“For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10)

This is the number one reason for Jesus coming into the Earth.  Jesus came into the Earth to save lost sinners from the penalty and punishment of their sin.  He came to save the world, not to judge the world.  The next time He comes, He will judge the world. (John 3:16-17)  However, He is still reaching out to the world with His offer of forgiveness and salvation.  He is still seeking and saving the lost.

This is also the number one reason for wealth coming into the hands of the Believer.  Supernatural prosperity in perspective comes into our hands to save lost sinners from the penalty and punishment of their sin.  Jesus is still reaching out to the world with His offer of salvation and forgiveness.  Only now He does it through His Body of Believers who presently live in the Earth.

People who do not understand that money comes “… to seek and to save the lost” will not participate in the transfer of wealth that is presently occurring in the Earth.  It is vitally important to get this straight.  If you do not want to pay tithes and offerings in faith, willingly, for the express purpose of seeking and saving the lost people of this world, you better get used to eating macaroni and cheese.  You are going to be eating lots of it.  Not the expensive home-made kind, either.  You will be eating the no-name stuff in the white box marked “4 for $1.”  While the rest of us are building TV stations, Radio stations, Bible Schools and Churches, you are going to be living on macaroni and cheese and being angry at God for something He could not help you with.  You would not let Him.  You were unwilling.

“And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations.  He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.” (Luke 16:9-10)

This rather complex looking passage of Scripture is actually quite simple.  Jesus is saying, “Use your money to win souls.  When you die, they’ll be in Heaven waiting to thank you.  If you don’t use your money to win souls, don’t expect Me to give you much when it comes to supernatural prosperity.  End of story.”

Jesus Christ Came to Destroy the Works of Satan

"…for this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.” (1John 3:8)

Jesus did not come solely as a spiritual Savior and Redeemer to keep fallen man from going to Hell on a greased pole.  Jesus came as a physical and an emotional Healer, as well.  More than one-quarter of Jesus’ Ministry was spent casting out unclean spirits and destroying the works of demon powers in people’s lives.  Jesus performed miracles of healing, miracles of supernatural provision, miracles over nature and miracles over Satan and demon powers with amazing regularity.

The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8)  His Miracle Ministry has not and will not change.

When money comes, it is vitally important that we not only invest it into Ministries that preach Jesus the Savior.  They must also be preaching Jesus the Healer, Jesus the Provider, Jesus the Miracle Worker and Jesus the Deliverer from Satan and demon powers.  Jesus is the 21st Century Miracle Worker and too many Preachers deny Him as such.

I make the following observation respectfully.  I listened to a Preacher on television preaching salvation in Christ.  He was doing pretty good until he said, “Jesus doesn’t heal sick bodies any more.  Jesus doesn’t give us authority to cast out unclean spirits.  Jesus doesn’t send the Holy Spirit to people, enabling them to speak in other tongues.  The nine Gifts of the Holy Spirit are no longer in operation and Christians having wealth is wrong.”

This very same individual turned right around in the next breath and literally began begging for money to pay his million-dollar TV bill.  He began to pressure people with guilt by telling them, in essence, “I’m going to go off the air if you don’t pay my bills for me and God will hold you responsible.”  He then proceeded with a very ungodly sales pitch, pushing his one hour video, all about what Jesus does not do anymore, for $75 a pop.  I thought to myself, “What in the world is he doing?  I wouldn’t give a dime to someone who preaches what Jesus doesn’t do anymore and who can’t come up with one verse of Scripture to prove it.”

Putting money into a Ministry of negativity, fear, unbelief and ignorance will only reap a harvest of negativity, fear, unbelief and ignorance.  This is not how people are set free from the works of Satan.  People are set free by faith, not fear.  People who invest into Ministries such as the one above, even good moral people, end up all bound up financially and with demons and cannot figure out why.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” (Luke 4:18)

This is what Jesus came into the Earth to do.  This is what Jesus is still doing in the Earth through His Body of Believers today.  He is still preaching, healing, delivering, recovering and liberating captives.

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto My Father.” (John 14:12)

God wants us to put our money where people will be set free from demon powers, lust, compulsive human behavior, sickness, binding habits, fear and sin.

Our loving Father wants us to put our money where people are taught about their authority in Christ and over Satan.

He wants us to invest heavily into setting people free from poverty, cancer, aids, depression, insanity, etc., through the operation of the nine Gifts of the Spirit found in First Corinthians 12.  Jesus is still setting individuals free by the Glory and the Anointing of God.

Money comes to set captives free.

You cannot tell me that Jesus no longer performs miracles.  I am a miracle.  You can read my testimony at “The Albuquerque Fire Pit.”

Jesus set me free supernaturally from Satan and demon powers and raised me up to set others free through this Ministry.  You simply cannot tell me that Jesus no longer performs miracles.  It is too late.  I am a hopeless cause if you are looking for someone to convince Jesus has stopped performing miracles.

We have seen the first two and the most important reasons why Jesus came and why money comes.

In part two of this study, we will see the third reason why Jesus came and why money comes.

Be blessed … John and Barbara Hamel
