Biblical Prosperity in Perspective 6

Starting the Prosperity Process, Part One

by Pastor John Hamel

We’re continuing to lay a foundation for Biblical prosperity.  We are using the Word of God in order to establish the will of God for Biblical prosperity.  If you have made it this far, no doubt any poverty mentality is being shattered into pieces.  Old religious, traditional ideas about poverty and humility are being replaced with God’s ideas of prosperity and humility.

It is a complete dishonor to Almighty God when His children walk around disheveled in tattered clothing and blown out shoes.  It is not His will for His children to barely make the rent, the groceries and the bills.  The world sees that and they say, “Forget that God stuff.  I can take better care of myself than God takes care of His children.”

The world always blames God for things that are not His fault.  The world always blames God for what Satan is doing to God’s children because of their own disobedience or ignorance.  The only thing that will cause the world to come to God is when His children’s lives are testimonies of health and wealth.

“And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honor before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.” (Jeremiah 33:9)

God Almighty Himself says the nations should be trembling for His goodness and for all the prosperity that He abundantly pours upon them.  God knows a little something about recruiting.  He knows that poverty and sickness are not very attractive.  He knows if He puts up a poster advertising “Poverty, Sickness, Tragedy & Confusion.  Look no further.  It’s all yours.  Sign up today.” that there will be absolutely no takers.

That is why His recruitment poster reads, “Joy, Praise & Honor, Goodness, Health & Prosperity.  Look no further.  It’s all yours. Sign up today.”

God wants to give His children so much prosperity that the world actually trembles when they see it.  “Well, why isn’t it happening?”  Look around.  It is happening.

It is happening for those who keep God’s priorities as their priorities.  It is happening for those who follow His instructions.  It is happening for those who willingly pay tithes and give generous offerings.  It is happening for those who have learned how to start the prosperity process and keep it rolling.

So let’s talk about how to start the prosperity process.

Ask God for Wisdom First, Never Money

Our good Father is just waiting for us to ask Him to reveal His plan for our lives.  He wants to reveal that plan.  He is not withholding His plan.  He’s a Gentleman.  He’s waiting to be asked what the plan is.

The only way we get wisdom from God is to ask wisdom of God.  Only through wisdom, God’s wisdom, will Biblical prosperity come.

“Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established: and by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with precious and pleasant riches.” (Proverbs 24:3-4)

We see from this verse the importance of asking for wisdom that will lead to prosperity and not just asking for prosperity alone.  God wants to give you wisdom and knowledge to prosper you.  Knowledge is simply the ability to use His wisdom successfully.  When you begin to apply the things that He shows you He wants you to do that is when you will begin to see your chambers filled with precious and pleasant riches.  But He is not going to show you what you do not ask Him to show you.  He is not going to give you wisdom to prosper unless you ask Him for wisdom to prosper.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.  But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.  For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.  A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:5-8)

Our loving Father God will never refuse wisdom to anyone who asks in faith, from a pure heart, expecting to receive.  Simply ask, “Father, what will You have me to do?  How do I pull myself in line with Your prosperity plan for my life?  Show me Your plan and Your purpose, and I’ll pursue it with all my heart, in Jesus’ Name.”

Lots of people do not pray that way.  They do not ask for wisdom.  They tell God what they are going to do and then wrongfully expect Him to bless it.  That’s just not how it works.

Others call the Pastor and ask him what to do and do not bother asking God for His plan.  That’s a real good way to get yourself and the Pastor in trouble.

The Bible says that wisdom is the first thing we should shoot for, whatever the need.  The Bible says to get wisdom first and foremost before attempting to step out in any endeavor.  The only way to do that is to ask God for wisdom.  He will either speak to you directly, indirectly or lead you to something in His Word.  Either way, once you expectantly ask for wisdom, it will come.

Again, it is so vitally important to ask for wisdom first, not just for prosperity.

In part two of this lesson, we will study the next steps that need to be taken in order to properly start the prosperity process in your life.

Be blessed … John and Barbara Hamel
