Biblical Prosperity in Perspective 13

This Isn't Just About You, Honey!

by Pastor John Hamel

In this lesson we will study the Covenant that God made with Abraham and why all Believers need to get in on it.  Almighty God cut a Covenant with Abraham because Abraham agreed to allow Him to bring Jesus, the Messiah, into the Earth through his genealogy.

Let’s look at it briefly.

“Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee; and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.” (Genesis 12:1-3)

When God said to Abram, “In thee” shall all the people of the world be blessed, He was referring to Jesus, the Messiah, the Seed of Abraham.  Abram agreed and that was the beginning of the mankind’s most important Covenant with God.

“And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south.  And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.” (Genesis 13:1)

It is quite apparent here that Abram had some wealth of his own before he ever even got involved with Almighty God.  However, as wealthy as he was, his wealth paled in comparison to what God was about to do for him through their Covenant.

“And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me and be thou perfect [a reference to integrity].  And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee EXCEEDINGLY. … And I will make thee exceeding fruitful … And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.” (Genesis 17:1-7)

It is obvious here that God’s Covenant was not only with Abram, but with Abram’s seed as an everlasting Covenant.  God promised to make him and his seed exceedingly wealthy when Abram was already very wealthy.  The wealth God promised to Abram, the Covenant keeper, is the same wealth He promises to all Born Again Covenant keepers.  This becomes very clear in the New Testament.

“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law … that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the spirit through faith … and if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” (Galatians 3:13-14, 29)

I simply do not know how God could have made this any clearer.  Abraham was tremendously wealthy.  God turned his tremendous wealth into exceeding wealth.  He then promised to do the same thing for Abraham’s seed, the Born Again Believer who understands why exceeding wealth comes.  We are establishing why tremendous wealth comes in these studies.  Let’s look at it again.

“But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, THAT HE MAY ESTABLISH HIS COVENANT which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” (Deuteronomy 8:18)

God sends tremendous wealth to establish His Covenant in the Earth.  His Covenant with Abraham was to bring Nations of Believers into Heaven with Abraham’s permission.  God made that Covenant with Abraham because God is love and love is God. (1John 4:8)  Love always seeks out someone to love.  God’s love is so tremendous that it is taking thousands of years for Him to be satisfied in His building a family capable of receiving that much love.  God is still in the process of surrounding Himself with billions of children who chose to come to Him as a conscious act of their own free will.  He is still fulfilling the Abrahamic Covenant today through what we now call “The Great Commission.”  That is found in Mark’s Gospel.

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” (Mark 16:15-18)

In order for God’s love to be satisfied, it is going to take billions more to come willingly into His Family.  In order for those individuals to come, we are going to have to go to them with the Gospel of God’s love in Jesus.  In order to get their attention, we are going to have to go to them with a Gospel that is confirmed with signs, wonders and miracles.  The Gospel that is confirmed by a goodness so overwhelming that it causes the Nations to tremble and cry out to Him. (Jeremiah 33:9)

In order to reach this many people, it is going to take tremendous financial increase coming into the hands of Believers, worldwide, who have been tested and proven in the realm of finances.  It is going to take multiple billions, even trillions, possibly octillions of dollars, for God to build a family that will satisfy His desire to love.

Yet, no matter how effectively the most adept and anointed Ministers communicate this, there is still argument.  There are still those who say, “But I just don’t need that kind of great wealth.”  Every time I hear that, I want to jump up and shout …

"But This Isn't Just About You, Honey!"

They say, “Lord, I only need to make the car and house payments, maybe something left for Christmas and some time at the beach in July.  I’m not like those other Christians who listen to Preachers in cowboy boots telling them how to get wealthy.  I’m humble.  Just help me to keep my head above water and I’ll give you all the Glory.  In Jesus’ Name.”

People who think, talk and pray that way probably really do believe they are being humble.  They probably have no idea in the world that they are amongst the most selfish people to have been birthed into this generation.  They have no idea that God’s Covenant with Abraham was not all about a house, a car, a week at the beach and a wonderful Christmas.  They have no idea what true humility really is.

They have no idea that God’s Covenant with Abraham was all about God building a Forever Family.  They have no idea that God’s Covenant with Abraham is all about what God says is humble.  There needs to be clarity within the Body of Christ concerning true humility.

True humility is believing the Bible even when it goes against the small channel of human reasoning, religion, tradition or what Mamma or your mate says is best.  True humility is believing God for whatever it takes to establish His Covenant in the Earth and getting every one we can into the Family so Jesus can come back and we can get this thing over with.

We are talking about more than 3 billion people presently in the Earth who are needing to hear about Jesus Christ.  They are dying and going to Hell every day because some of us are too “humble” to believe God for the financing to reach them.

Some of us just need to get over our selfishness masquerading as humility and start trusting God to give us seed to plant towards a financial harvest of souls.

This is not all about what you think you “don’t deserve.”  You don’t deserve forgiveness, either, but God gives it to you anyway.  Why does He do that?

He does it in order to keep His Word to Abraham.  He does it because He needs you to help Him to reach the more than 3 billion people that need to hear about Jesus, their Deliverer, Savior.

“I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.” (Isaiah 43:25)

What does God mean when He says He blots out our transgressions for His own sake?

Well, if He doesn’t forgive you and me, who else is He going to use to reach the more than 3 billion people who are waiting to be saved?  He cannot use angels.  Angels are not allowed to preach the Gospel during this Dispensation.  They will preach from the Heavens during the Tribulation Period.

But right now, God has assigned it to man to preach the Gospel to man.  He forgives us for the sake of the Covenant.  If He forgives us for the sake of the Covenant, doesn’t it just make sense that He will finance the Covenant through us?  Some people need to just wake up and smell the Treasury Notes.  There’s work to be done, tremendously expensive work!

What if Jesus decided to stay in Heaven because all He cared about was being comfortable?  Redemption wasn’t a matter of what Jesus needed.  It was a matter of what His Creation needed.  It still is.

His Creation is in desperate need of Salvation.  Jesus used His faith to come here and save us.  Now we absolutely must use our faith to be Fishers of Men in His Name.  We absolutely must use our faith to believe in the finances to rob Hell and reward Heaven.

Now, you can have your little house and your little car, your week at the beach, a couple of pretty good Christmases, then die and go to Heaven if you want, but others are going to die and go to Hell because you did so.  You and you alone will then answer to God for the selfishness, which you disguised as humility.  You will do so at the Judgment Seat of Christ.

“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that which he hath done, whether it be good or bad.  Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.” (2 Corinthians 5:10-11)

I would much prefer to stand before the Judgment Tribunal of Jesus being commended for my commitment to the more than 3 billion people who lived in the Earth when I did, than having to stand there being rebuked.  I cannot imagine being rebuked for a selfish “I really didn’t need all that much” false humility attitude.

If you really don’t need all that much, ask God for it anyway.  Then you can give it to somebody who is laying down their life to reach the nations for Christ.  That is true humility!

There's No Peace for Prosperity Rejecters

Selfish individuals who push Biblical prosperity in perspective aside push peace of mind right out of their lives with it.

“And thou hast removed my soul far off from peace: I forgat prosperity.” (Lamentations 3:17)

To forget Biblical prosperity in perspective is to forget the more than 3 billion unreached peoples of the world.  To do so is to strip oneself of all peace.  People who put themselves first and God’s needs second do not qualify for peace.  This is why so many people are Born-Again and miserable.  They are clogging the spout where God’s peace of mind comes out.  They are clogging the spout with false humility and selfishness disguised as honor.

Biblical prosperity in perspective isn’t just about you, Honey!

It’s about seeking, saving and delivering from Satan’s hand more than 3 billion people whom God eagerly yearns to bring into His Forever Family.  This is a strong word I know.  But there’s over 3 billion people waiting out there.  It is worth it to get you a little fired up at me if it results in you finally doing something about their Salvation.

This isn’t about you or me.  It’s about them.

Jesus wants them all to come into His Kingdom.

John Wesley, the great 18th Century British Evangelist to America and Founder of the Methodist Church, said, “If you are not getting them saved or making them angry, you’re not doing your job.”

I agree.  If I have made you angry, I hope I have made you angry at the devil.  He was tricking you into believing that your pride was really humility.  Make him pay for it now, the dumb devil.

Prayer:  “God, forgive me for any semblance of false humility or pride.  I rebuke the spirit of selfishness and pride.  Forgive me for my blindness.  Show me what to believe and I’ll put my faith right on it.  Show me the part that I’m to play in the 3 billion flow.  I’ll do as You say whatever it costs.  I rebuke the spirit of debt, lack and poverty.  I say, Money, you come to me.  Father, the world needs You to give me more money.  Thank You for it now.  In Jesus’ Name.”

Be blessed … John and Barbara Hamel
