Faith Building Block 3

Seated in a Place of Authority

If you have not yet completed the “Faith Building Block 1” and “Faith Building Block 2” studies, you will want to do so.  

We’re building a foundation for faith and every component is deliberate and necessary.  Compromising with the components that go into the foundation lead to serious problems later.

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in Heavenly places in Christ Jesus:” (Ephesians 2:4-6)

Far too many Christians have no understanding of the above verses of Scripture.  These verses reveal that all Born Again Believers actually share a position of authority with Jesus. 

Although we may still be walking in the Earth physically, spiritually speaking we are seated with Jesus at the right hand of God.  

This is a position of tremendous authority.

This means that we are above Satan, first and foremost.  Many Believers wrongly believe that Satan has power over them.  Not so, according to the precious Holy written Word of God.  

Here’s what Jesus said about the Believer’s authority over Satan and demon powers.

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions [symbolic of Satan and demon powers], and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Unless you allow it.)  Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in Heaven.” (Luke 10:19,20)

“And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My Name shall they cast out devils [demons] …” (Mark 16:17)

This means Satan and demon powers are no longer to master us.  We are masters over them all.  

When we speak to them using Jesus’ Name, they must obey.  

We must tell them to “go” from our family, finances, bodies, etc., in Jesus’ Name.  

We are not to ask God to do this for us.  God’s Word commands the Believer to resist Satan and demons.

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)

The Believer is not only seated above Satan and demon powers.  The Believer is also seated above the angels of God.  Some do not believe this based on the following verse of Scripture.

“For thou hast made him [man] a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.” (Psalm 8:5)

The Hebrew word for “angels” in this verse is actually “Elohim.”  Elohim is God’s three-fold Name.  Elohim is a reference to the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  

This verse actually says that man has been made a little lower than the Trinity, not a little lower than the angels.  Possibly the translators were so scared off by this powerful revelation, they did a little “’fraidy cat” adjusting!

The Born Again Believer, although lower than the Trinity, is in fact seated in Heaven.  This is a position of authority over Satan, demons and even the angels of God. 

The angels of God are the servants of the Born Again Believer.

“Are they [angels] not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs [Born Again] of salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14)

The angels of God will do whatever the Believer commands.  Those commands, however, must be according to what is written in God’s Word.  

When a Believer gives voice to the written Word of God, the angels immediately hearken.

“Bless the LORD, ye His angels that excel in strength, that do His commandments, hearkening unto the voice of His word.” (Psalm 103:20)

We, the Believers, are the ones who are to give voice to God’s Word in the Earth.  

When we tell the angels of God, respectfully, to “Go, in Jesus’ Name, and cause the finances to come in.” they’ll do so.  When we tell them to “Go and protect our loved ones as they travel.” they will do exactly that. (Psalm 91:11,12)

The above verses, and many, many others, make clear the Believer’s elevated position of authority in Christ.  A strong understanding in this area always results in strong, effective faith.

The Born Again Believer in Christ is a new creation.  

The Born Again Believer has been made the righteousness of God.  

The Born Again Believer has been seated at God’s right hand in Heavenly places.  

The Born Again Believer has authority over Satan and demon powers.  

The angels of God respond to the Believer who speaks faith-filled words.

Understanding the Believer’s high position of authority is the third Faith Building Block that must be laid to develop strong faith.

Make this Faith confession daily.  “I am a brand new creation in Christ.  I am the righteousness of God.  I am seated in a place of authority with Christ.”
