God Gives a Rip
It’s
Curtains for Satan!
by Pastor John Hamel

“Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.  And, behold, THE VEIL OF THE TEMPLE WAS RENT IN TWAIN from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent.” (Matthew 27:50-51)

“Who gives a rip?”  Have you ever heard someone in the throes of despair speak forth those words?  Have you ever spoken them yourself, or words similar to them?

Everyone feels like “throwing in the towel” at some point in life.  Occasionally everyone comes to the place where they feel as if no one cares about what they’re going through.

Everyone eventually comes to the place of feeling unappreciated or overlooked and wants to just give up.  “Who gives a rip, anyway?” they exclaim. “Who really cares?  What’s the use of trying?”

Well, God gives a rip.  That’s right.  God gives a rip.  God cares deeply about what you’re going through.

As a matter of fact, the Bible reveals that God has a special plan and purpose for your life. (Jeremiah 29:11)  He wants to reveal it to you, too.  His good plan is the only way you’ll come to experience joy in life.

Until you discover that plan, you’ll be “out of God’s will”, so to speak, and things will continue to happen TO you instead of FOR you.

“Well, how do I discover that plan?” you may ask.

I’ll give you two easy steps from the Bible.

First, you must become a child of God.  You do this by simply saying, “Jesus, You’re my choice!” You’ll then become a member of God’s Forever Family. (Romans 10:13; John 1:12)  This entitles you to call God “Father”.

Second, you now go to your “Father” God and ask Him to reveal that plan to you. (Matthew 6:6-9)

Simply pray, “Father, please reveal Your purpose for my existence to me, in Jesus’ Name.  Give me wisdom as to why I’m here.  Show me the one thing You want me to do for the rest of my life and I’ll do it with all my heart.” (Proverbs 4:7)

It’s important that you not pray to Jesus, to the Virgin Mary or to anyone else.  Jesus said you absolutely must pray to the “Father” in Jesus’ Name to obtain supernatural results.

ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ASK THE FATHER IN MY NAME, he will give it you.” (John 16:23)

Praying only to the Father in Jesus’ Name is a prayer “secret” that will radically revolutionize your prayer life if you’ll obey the Bible and utilize it.

Someone said, “Do you mean I can just go right to God and talk to Him like that?”

Yes, I do and yes, Jesus does, too.

The people in the Old Testament couldn’t do this.  Back then, only the High Priest could go into God’s presence.  There was a giant “veil” or curtain that hung in the Temple, separating the Holy of Holies where God dwelt from the rest of the Temple. (Exodus 26:31)

No one was allowed behind that curtain except the High Priest.  He could go back there on behalf of the people.  Anyone else who dared to go behind that curtain died instantly.

Why?  Because when their sinful nature came in contact with God’s Holy nature something had to give.  It wasn’t God!

However, Jesus went to the Cross on our behalf, canceling our sinfulness. (2Corinthians 5:21)  At the moment of His death, that four inch thick veil was “rent in twain” or torn in half supernaturally by God Himself.

He “gave it a rip,” you could say, and in doing so said, “Now all Believers in Jesus’ sacrifice can enter My Presence at will and receive My help.” (Hebrews 4:16)

Because God gives a rip for you, that means "curtains" for Satan, as the saying goes.  No longer can he dominate you and keep you from God if you don’t want him to.

God “gave a rip” to that curtain because He “gives a rip” about every one of us.  He eagerly yearns for us to enter His Presence boldly, whatever the need, 24 and 7.
