Let God Be Glorified

Your Healing Will Do Just That

by Barbara Hamel

“And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.  And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.  And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.  And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. ... Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?” (Luke 13:10-13, 16)

Some people wrongly believe that sickness just might be a test from God.  Others believe it might be a lesson of some sort.  Normally when asked exactly what that lesson is, they are at a loss for words.  They just never seem to know.  This is because they simply do not know what the Bible teaches.

The Bible does not teach that God uses sickness to test us or to teach us.  The Bible teaches that sickness is never the will of God.  Jesus knew this.

Notice in our above text that the moment Jesus saw this sick woman He set her free.  No questions asked.  What does the Bible say the woman did when her back suddenly straightened up?  The Bible says she “glorified God.”

There is no place in the Bible where we are told that sickness ever glorified God.  However, there are multiple examples of individuals being healed and bringing great glory to God.

“Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they GLORIFIED THE GOD OF ISRAEL.” (Matthew 15:31)

“...[Jesus] saith to the sick of the palsy ... Arise ... go thy way into thy house.  And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and GLORIFIED GOD ...” (Mark 2:10-12)

By reading the New Testament you will discover even more examples than the ones you have just read.  You will also discover that it is NEVER God’s will for anyone to be sick.  Jesus never sent anyone away who came to Him for healing.  As a matter of fact, the Bible says that Jesus would heal all who came to Him sincerely.

“...they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed ALL that were sick.” (Matthew 8:16)

“...great multitudes followed him, and he healed them ALL.” (Matthew 12:15)

“...there went virtue out of him and healed them ALL.” (Luke 6:19)

The Bible teaches that sickness comes from Satan.  He is the one who is out to kill you by stealing and destroying your health.

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:  I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10)

Jesus made it clear.  Satan is the damnerGod is the Blesser.

Let's go back to our opening Scripture verse for a moment.  Notice something stated by Jesus when the people complained about Him healing the bowed over woman.  Jesus said ...

“Ought not this woman ... whom Satan hath bound ... be loosed from this bond...?” (Luke 13:16)

Jesus always made it perfectly clear that Satan is the one who makes people sick, not His Father.  Think about this.  If indeed Jesus’ Father had made this woman sick, Jesus would have been violating His Father’s will by healing her.  However, the Bible reveals that Jesus NEVER violated His Father’s will.

“For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.” (John 6:38)

Jesus was actually performing the will of God when He healed this woman.  As a matter of fact, Jesus said that every act of healing was performed by His Father through Him.

“...the Father that dwelleth in me, He doeth the works.” (John 14:10)

Physical healing is ALWAYS the will of God.  However, not all people receive healing.  Why?  Because not all people qualify for healing

Simply say, “Jesus, You’re my choice of Savior and Healer.  I forgive anyone who has ever wronged me for anything.”  That’s the first qualification for healing.

If there is anything else you need to do to cooperate with your healing, God the Father will show you.  Ask Him to do so.  Then the healing power will flow and God will be glorified in your body.

Be blessed ... John and Barbara Hamel
