Need a Miracle?

Persist in Your Pursuit

by Pastor John Hamel

“And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us.  And when He was come into the house, the blind men came to Him; and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this?  They said unto Him, Yea, Lord.  Then touched He their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.  And their eyes were opened …” (Matthew 9:27-30)

One day two blind men who needed a miracle approached Jesus.  They wanted to be able to see.  You’ll notice in the above text that because of their persistence, Jesus gave them His undivided attention.  If you will persist in pursuing Jesus’ help, He will give you His undivided attention as well.

Let’s look at what the blind men did to get Jesus’ attention.

First, they acknowledged Jesus as the Promised Messiah and Deliverer.  They cried out, “Thou Son of David …”.  That will get Jesus’ attention every time.  Anytime anyone anywhere recognizes Him as the Promised Messiah and says so, He immediately gives His undivided attention.

Do you recognize Jesus as the Bible’s Promised Messiah?  He said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.  No one comes to the Father but by Me.” (John 14:6)  Do you believe this?

If so, just say, “Jesus, You’re my choice” (Romans 10:13) and you’ll be well on your way to receiving the miracle that you need.

The second thing they did to capture Jesus’ attention was to ask Him for mercy.  Sometimes we need to stop trying to figure out how to pray and simply ask God for mercy.

The Bible says that God’s tender mercies are over all of His works. (Psalm 145:9)  The Bible also says that you are His workmanship. (Ephesians 2:10)  This means that He desires to have mercy on you.  Just ask.

Once these men got Jesus’ attention by acknowledging His Lordship and asking for mercy, He put forth this question to them.  “Believe ye that I am able to do this?”

If you have now gotten His attention by acknowledging His Lordship and asking for mercy, He would ask you the same question.  “Do you believe that I am able to perform this miracle for you?”

Whatever it is that you need, or possibly even need to be rid of, Jesus is more than willing to help you.  However, you must believe that He is able to help you.

Can you believe as these blind men did?

Can you believe that Jesus is willing and able to help you, no matter how big your need is in your own eyes?

If so, tell Him, as the blind men did.  Say, “Jesus, not only are You my choice as Savior and Miracle Worker, but I also believe that You can and You will help me.”

Then tell Him what you need.  Do what I did as a former drug addict over 30 years ago.  Promise Him that in exchange for His help, you will help Him reach the world with His love and miracle power for the rest of your life.

Acknowledge His Lordship.  Ask for mercy.  Believe that He is willing and is able to help you.

Make a commitment to Jesus and Jesus will make a commitment to you.

He’ll use His miracle power to change your life supernaturally.
