One Triumphant Crucifixion!

by Pastor John Hamel

“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory: Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.” (1Corinthians 2:7-8)

The Bible says the “Princes of this world” had no idea what they were doing when they crucified Jesus.

The “Princes of this world” refers to the political and religious rulers who sent Jesus unjustly and illegally to the Cross.  It also refers to the demonic princes who were controlling the political and religious leaders at that time. (Ephesians 6:12)

Had they realized what they were doing to themselves, they never would have allowed Jesus to be murdered on that torture stake -- particularly the demonic principalities and powers.  They hadn’t a clue that the death of Jesus, which they brought about, would lead to their immediate demise.

Through Jesus’ death on the Cross as our substitute, all of humanity’s sin was forgiven and Satan was stripped of power.

“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”  (Colossians 2:14-15)

Do you realize what this means to the Believer in Christ?

This means that not only are all sins forgiven, but the consequences of those sins are “blotted out” as well.

Eternal separation from God is a penalty for sin.  It’s been blotted out! (2Corinthians 5:21)

Sickness is a penalty for sin.  It’s been blotted out! (Matthew 8:16,17; 1Peter 2:24)

Poverty is a penalty for sin.  It’s been blotted out! (Philippians 4:19; 1Corinthians 8:9)

Confusion, frustration and failure are all consequences of sin … and it’s all been blotted out! (Deuteronomy 28:15-68; Galatians 3:13,14)

Not only are the consequences of man’s sin blotted out along with the sin itself, but Mankind’s dominion has been restored as well.  No longer can Satan and demon powers threaten.

The Believer in Christ’s death, burial, resurrection and ascension has been given all authority over Satan and all demon powers.

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions [Satan and demons], and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that THE SPIRITS ARE SUBJECT UNTO YOU; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:19-20)

Never should the Bible believer look at Christ’s horrible crucifixion as a shameful minus.

It’s a proud plus!  It was a Triumphant Crucifixion in that it resulted in the restoration of man’s right standing with God. (2Corinthians 5:21)

It resulted in the restoration of man’s dignity and dominion. (Mark 16:15-20)

This is what Jesus was referring to when He hung on that cross, nearly bloodless, heart pounding as He shouted with a loud triumphant voice, “IT IS FINISHED.”

If you’ll simply say, “Jesus, You’re my choice,” (Romans 10:13) Satan’s dominion over you is finished.  The reign of sickness in your body is finished.  Poverty and lack are finished.  Confusion, frustration, failure and fear are finished.

Everything that Satan ever brought against you for harm is finished. (Genesis 50:20)

Things will now stop happening TO you and start happening FOR you.

The Cross is shaped like a “T” for “Triumph,” not for “Tragedy.”

His was indeed ONE TRIUMPHANT CRUCIFIXIONYessiree!
