Suicide
Thoughts?
Read This First
by Pastor John Hamel
“And
one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my
son, which hath a dumb spirit; And wherever he takes him, he tears him: and
he foams, and gnashes with his teeth, and pines away… and when he [the
spirit] saw him [Jesus], straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on
the ground, and wallowed foaming. And he asked his father, How long
is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. And
often it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him:
but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.
“Jesus
said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that
believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said
with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. …he [Jesus] rebuked
THE FOUL SPIRIT, saying unto him, THOU DUMB AND DEAF SPIRIT, I charge thee,
come out of him, and enter no more into him. And THE SPIRIT cried,
and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; …Jesus took
him (the boy) by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.” (Mark
9:17-27)
Please
notice in the above text how Jesus rebuked the evil “spirit”
that was causing this young boy to try to kill himself. This “spirit”
would throw the boy into fire, hoping to burn him to death. It would
also throw him, against his will, into bodies of water to drown him.
Notice also that Jesus did not refer the boy to a psychiatrist or suggest a
“miracle drug” to keep him from harming or killing himself. The
Church of Jesus Christ is not a referral agency. The Church of Jesus
Christ is the most powerful organism on the face of Planet Earth.
Jesus
addressed the “spirit” that was forcing itself upon the boy against both
his will and his family’s. That’s what suicide is, you know!
It’s a spirit that forces itself upon unsuspecting human beings to get them
to kill themselves before they can get hooked up with God’s good plan
for their lives. (Jeremiah 29:11) Satan
doesn’t care how he gets you out of here, as long as he gets you out of
here. His greatest desire is to plunder Heaven
and populate Hell.
My
wife and I know a man from a restaurant we frequently ate in. He drank heavily and was oftentimes
obnoxious and overbearing. One day
he put a gun to his head and told the other tenants in the building where
he lived that he was going to kill himself. They, in turn, called the police. The police came and there was a major
standoff. This man held the police
at bay with a gun to his head and threatened to kill himself
if they came anywhere near him.
Finally, after much convincing, he was persuaded to put the gun down
and go with the police. It was later
decided that charges would not be pressed because he was threatening no one
but himself.
Soon
after this incident, the man began to have thoughts of suicide again. He walked into the same restaurant where
Barbara and I were eating again. He
said to me, in essence, “I’m being tormented by spirits that come and touch
me in the night. I’m scared. I haven’t eaten for days. I’m sick.
I’m anxious. I have no
peace. The Lord told me to come here
today, that you would be here and you would help me.”
I
listened on the inside before laying my hands on
him right there in the restaurant and praying for him. The Lord showed me to cast the spirit of
suicide out of him. I stood there
quietly and calmly and told that spirit of suicide that this man just gave
me authority to cast him out and then I did so. I quietly said, “Spirit of suicide, come
out, in Jesus’ powerful Name.” There
was no big demonstration, no screaming, no fit throwing or vomiting.
The
man just looked at me and said, “That’s it.
That’s it. It’s gone.” He explained to me that for months he
felt as if something was gripping his head tightly, wanting to crush his
skull. The moment I prayed that
prayer, the gripping, crushing hold on his skull was released. His face lit up with the biggest smile. He was able to eat again, to live again
and to experience joy and peace.
Barbara
and I still have occasion to see this man.
Each time we do, he joyfully explains how he’s still free. He no longer drinks alcohol and will not
allow anyone into his home who does so. He loves to read his Bible now. He works out multiple times weekly at the
gym. He’s eating regularly again and
is enjoying life. He’s no longer
afraid or angry. We are constantly
amazed by the supernatural change in him.
This
man said to me, “I have a picture of Jesus on my wall. Whenever that spirit would come to me in
the night, I would pray to that picture and nothing would happen. Why is it that when you prayed something
happened?” I explained to him that
there is no authority in praying to a picture of Jesus. The Bible says we must address Satan and evil spirits
directly in the Name of Jesus,
telling them to go. When we obey the
Bible, demons will obey us. Demons
fear the Name of Jesus,
not pictures of Jesus.
If
you, too, are being harassed by a spirit of suicide, you can tell that
spirit to release you, in Jesus’ Name.
It must listen to you. You
must not listen to it.
Allow
me to say this, too! If you listen to that spirit and take your life,
it’s not the end of your problems. It’s the beginning. You’ll
face Almighty God for the murder of His creation.
I promise you, from God’s written Word, you’ll not like that. You’ll
wish you had listened to this message and lived. If Christ is your
Savior and you take your life, you’ll be stripped of rewards in Heaven.
(1Corinthians 3:13-17;
2Corinthians 5:10)
Notice I said "in Heaven". You'll make it to Heaven,
yes. But you will have severely, severely altered your eternal
destiny.
If
Christ is not your Savior, you’ll spend Eternity in the Lake of
Fire. (Matthew 5:41;
Revelation 20:15) Hell is not a "booty fest" with a bunch
of rappers, hip hoppers or Hell’s Angels. It is a place of unending
torment where all cute little fantasies concerning it will be violently
raped by a brutal gang of facts. Let’s not even go there! No
pun intended.
If
you’re tormented by suicide thoughts, know this. You are not
alone. Most people have them and don’t talk about it. Jesus had
suicide thoughts so don’t be ashamed!
“For
we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our
infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet
without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)
Although
Jesus had those thoughts, He never gave in to them. He rebuked Satan
with the Word of God and told him to get lost. (Matthew 4:1-11) Satan
always obeyed. He’ll obey you, too.
Just
say, “Jesus, You’re my choice for Savior.”
This gives you immediate power
over the “spirit” of suicide. (Luke 10:19,20; John 1:12; Romans
10:13)
Then
when the thought comes, “I need to just kill myself”, say this, “Satan, you
can’t fool me using pronouns. That’s not my voice. It’s
yours. I rebuke the spirit of suicide, in Jesus’ powerful Name.
I’ve got revelation of my authority now.” He’ll leave. If he
doesn’t, he’ll have to deal directly with Jesus. He’d rather obey
you. (Matthew 18:19; James 4:7)
Commit
life, not suicide! God has a plan for your life. (Jeremiah
29:11) A plan that includes big time power over Satan and all evil
spirits! That's why Satan wants you out of here at all costs. He's afraid
you’ll find out about him, which you just did.
Be blessed … John
