Your Angels

Past, Present and Future

by Pastor John Hamel

“And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,  And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: …And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom ...” (Luke 16:20-22)

Here Jesus is telling of a certain man who evidently had many problems in life.  Obviously he wasn’t able to walk because the Bible says he was laid at the gate of a rich man’s house in order to beg.

At the end of this man’s life on Earth, he “was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom.”  The Hebrew people often referred to Heaven as Abraham’s bosom.

The Bible is full of references to angels working in the lives of all who believe in Jesus as their Savior, Redeemer.  Jesus taught us that from the time we are birthed into the Earth, guardian-type angels are assigned to us, to guard us and to keep us in all our ways.

“Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 18:10)

As Believers in Jesus become older and more accountable, it becomes their responsibility to actually “commission” the angels of God, verbally, to accompany, preserve and defend them in the Earth.

“Bless the Lord, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word.” (Psalm 103:20)

It is totally up to the Believer in Christ to give voice to God’s Word and assign their angels to see to it that all needs are met. (Jeremiah 15:19)

“Are they [angels] not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14)

So it is quite clear from Scripture that angels are assigned to the Believer at birth.  They continue with the Believer over the course of their lifetime.  When the Believer exits their physical body at the moment of physical death, the Angel of the Lord escorts their spirit – the real person – directly to Heaven.

“We are confident … and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8)

There is an angel in your future.  If you are a member of God’s Family through Christ, at the moment of your passing that angel will carry you instantly and effortlessly into the Presence of God

For those who have rejected the Lordship of Jesus Christ there is another escort to another place.  This place called Hell was originally intended only for Satan and his fallen angels.  However, rebellious, sinful human beings who refuse to repent for their sins have to go somewhere.  Unfortunately, this is that somewhere.

You don’t even have to believe in Hell to end up there, either.  Just choose any of the world’s cults or false religions and reject Jesus.  That comes with an automatic one-way ticket to Hell.

However, it is guaranteed that you will finally accept the Doctrine of Hell once you arrive there.

“Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.” (Matthew 25:41)

The choice is yours.  No one ever went to Heaven for being good.  No one ever went to Hell for being bad.

You go to Heaven for accepting Christ. (Romans 10:13)

You go to Hell for rejecting Christ. (Luke 13:3; Revelation 20:15)

Almighty God never sent one human being to Hell and He never will.  People send themselves by rejecting His Plan of Escape

Your angel is observing you right now, wondering what you will decide.  Simply say, “Jesus, You’re my choice.” (Romans 10:13)

Your angel will know precisely where to escort you when the hour of departure arrives.  Enjoy the quick trip.  Hope to see you there.

Be Blessed ... John and Barbara Hamel
