Have You Blown It?

Well, Don’t Bemoan It

by Barbara Hamel

Everyone has blown it at one time or another in life.  You are not alone.

Everyone has “fallen down on the job,” “come up short” or “blown it big time.”

Some may not agree that this is true, but that’s what the Bible reveals.

“For ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23)

We’re not condoning blowing it, we’re condemning bemoaning it when you do.  We’re condemning the little pity party the devil wants you to throw, so he can show up in his pajamas carrying his overnight bag with no intention of leaving.

You are not the “scum of the Earth” because you have blown it for the first, second or umpteenth time.  You can quickly remedy your fallen situation.

First, you need to know that God is not nearly as concerned with your falling down as He is with your getting up.  No matter how many times you have fallen.

“For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again.” (Proverbs 24:16)

God is not just waiting to “get you” when you blow it.  The Bible says God is love. (1John 4:8)  Love is cheering you on. (1Corinthians 13:6)  Whatever you do, don’t run FROM God when you blow it.  Run TO Him and repent.  Do it immediately.  Ask Him to forgive you.  He’ll do exactly that

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1John 1:9)

However, God’s forgiveness does not come without conditions.  Even as God has freely forgiven you, you must now also forgive all others who have wronged you.  When we don’t offer forgiveness, we don’t get forgiveness.  Jesus said …

“…forgive, if ye have ought [anything] against any [person]: that your Father also which is in Heaven may forgive you your trespasses.” (Mark 11:25)

Forgiving anything against any person would also include forgiving yourself.  People who refuse to forgive themselves for blowing it have unforgiveness in their hearts.

Jesus said when we carry unforgiveness in our hearts, even self-unforgiveness, we do not qualify for the Father’s forgiveness.  Condemnation, self-condemnation included, is prohibited in Scripture. (Romans 8:1)  Unforgiveness and condemnation block the spout where your help comes out.

I encourage you to receive God’s forgiveness.  If necessary, ask the forgiveness of others.  You must also forgive yourself whether it makes sense to you or not.  Once you have taken these steps, you are now ready to take the final step in recovering from a fall.

IMMEDIATELY GET BACK INTO FAITH.  It doesn’t make sense to your head that you can immediately get back into faith after blowing it, but this isn’t about your head.  This is about obedience.  This is about the Bible.  The Bible says that you’re just going to have to trust the Lord and not your own understanding.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5,6)

Don’t listen to your head.  Don’t listen to the devil.  Don’t listen to anyone who tells you that you cannot be forgiven immediately.  Listen to the Bible.  Trust the Lord.  You ran to Him for refuge now let Him protect you and restore you.

“I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.” (Psalm 91:2)

If you’ve not yet made Jesus your Savior you can quickly remedy that, too.  Just say, “Jesus, You’re my choice.  Be my Savior.  Be my Lord.” (Romans 10:13)  Then you’ll qualify for His help.

So I say to you again, Child of God, if you’ve blown it, don’t bemoan it.

Immediately repent.

Immediately forgive.

Immediately get back in faith.

Now when you encounter another fallen saint, you’ll know exactly what to tell them.

Be Blessed … Barbara and John Hamel
